It is planned to be released later in 2009.

Google was changing the default search engine at least for some users to Google encrypted search. Whenever these users search they are automatically redirected to https://encrypted.google.com instead of the standard Google search address. Encrypted search, often referred to as Google SSL, improves the protection against some attack forms that spy on a computer’s traffic. SSL search is only enabled on some Google properties. Google images and Google Maps for instance are available over SSL currently.

Back in February we wrote about Facebook’s secret Project Titan — a web-based email client that we hear is unofficially referred to internally as its “Gmail killer”. Now we’ve heard from sources that this is indeed what’s coming on Monday during Facebook’s special event, alongside personal @facebook.com email addresses for users.

According to their sources, this isn’t just a rehash of the existing Facebook messaging system with the ability to pull in outside messages and POP access; instead, it’s the first step in a far more comprehensive Gmail alternative. Tipped for eventual inclusion is some sort of weighting system – similar to Gmail’s Priority Inbox – that uses your Facebook friends information and your history of interactions to better filter out the messages it believes you’ll want to read first.

 Google’s online spreadsheet and office related applications has been gaining popularity. To counter that Microsoft plans to take Office online, with a new series of free Office Web applications.

“Office Web Applications, the online companion to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote applications will allow you to access documents from anywhere. You can even simultaneously share and work on documents with others online,” says Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview Website.

Google celebrating 12th birthday

Today (27.09.2010), search engine giant, Google celebrated its 12th birthday with Google Doodle. The California based company was first incorporated as a privately held corporation on Sep 27th, 1998.This Google Doodle is a painting of a cake, which was designed by 88-years-old, Los Angeles artist Wayne Thiebaud. In the Google’s birthday doodle, there is a candle which represents the letter ‘L’ in the word Google.

In 2007, Mark Erickson with "Infinite Solutions" promised users a way to access Google TV Beta.

The Google TV Beta description reads: "Google Labs is at it again! Be one of the first to try out GoogleTV! This is Mark Erickson on Infinite Solutions. In this episode, I'll show you how to access Google's secret on-demand television service."

In response to the videos, Google told Blogoscope in a statement:
Mark Erickson's "Infinite Solutions" segment highlights Gmail's seemingly "infinite" powers – from gobs of storage and lightning fast search to some of the best anti-spam action in the business (and how about that sweet Easter Egg cowbell in Gmail Chat?).
