Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: 6000 Copies Stolen Before Official Release

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 just became available. The video is part of the buildup to the much-heralded U.S. release of the game on Tuesday, Nov. 8 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Game creator Activision adding a free social network that lets you track your game play stats across all platforms, and it works on this new game, Call of Duty Black Ops from last year and any Call Of Duty games coming in the future. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is available for preorder now, retailing for $59.99 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

A  News reports on Saturday morning from a French site TFI says that ,A van containing  €400,000 worth of video games was hijacked by criminals,They used tear gas and knives to subdue the drivers. These thieves targeted and then crashed a car into a van loaded with thousands of copies of the game, driving in southern Paris. A separate report indicates that the shipment was made up of over 6,000 copies of Modern Warfare 3 on their way to retailers in preparation for tomorrow's launch.

This incident marks the second criminal act relating to Modern Warfare 3, with the PC version reportedly being stolen from a shipping warehouse in late October before promptly being pirated and uploaded to the Internet. The second disc of two from the PC version was reportedly stolen in late October, with pirated versions appearing on torrent sites a few days later.

Just to be safe, even if you do manage to get a copy of Modern Warfare 3 early for Xbox 360, you might want to hold off on playing it because it could get you banned on Xbox Live. And while playing legitimate copies of Modern Warfare 3 ahead of the tomorrow's official release date could get you in hot water, I've confirmed independently from my own sources that pirated copies of the game are already out there and being played on Xbox 360 consoles not connected to the Internet without any problems.
