5 Reasons Why Your Dreams Don’t Come True

We all have dreams or things that we’ve always wanted to learn, but somehow never manage to accomplish them. Either it’s learning a foreign language, starting a blog about a hobby or improving some skills in a certain domain, there’s a lot out there each one of us has the desire to accomplish.
Some complain about not having the time to do it, while others follow their dreams. What’s their secret? What are their priorities? How do they manage with their time? Do they have more time available, or do they make time for things that are important to them?
Nobody really knows the answer. Because following your dreams is all about you and your actions. I won’t tell you what to do to accomplish your dreams. But I can tell you what’s stopping you from getting there:

 1. Bad time management

The main excuse that people find when they want to do something but don’t manage to is time. “I’m so busy that I don’t have the physical time to do it”, or “I don’t even have time for myself”. While that can be true in some cases, in most of them it’s just making excuses.
People rarely work at 100% capacity. I know persons that have all their day filled with activities and others which don’t do much of a thing besides the daily struggles for making a living. Neither case is healthy. It’s good to keep your day busy, but not until you reach exhaustion.
Also, being caught daily in the same routine certainly kills creativity or any desire for personal development. Try to find an equilibrium between the two. Of course everybody is tired after a busy day, but instead of sitting in front of the TV and watching some sitcom you might as well reserve that hour for something you always wanted to do.

2. Finding excuses

People feel frustrated when realizing time passes by and they’re filled with the regrets. That’s when excuses are being created. And honestly it’s perfectly normal: a panic reaction  when you try to find an explanation for your failure to accomplish something. Instead of trying to find excuses, focus on the future: try to figure out what factors are standing in the way of your dreams and actions. Because if you really want to accomplish something and you’re a perfectly healthy person capable of making his/her own decision, than nothing is standing in your way.

3. Procrastination

There’s always something more important to do, which requires your immediate attention. So you postpone your hobbies in favor of some extra hours of work, let’s say. Other times you postpone it because you’re not in the perfect mental/physical shape. You’re missing a lot in this way.
In this very inspirational article I was reading that education and intelligence accomplish nothing without action. It’s time to focus your energies also in turning your dreams into reality, not just preparing to do it.

4. Waiting for the right moment – when you’re prepared

One thing’s for sure: you’ll never feel more prepared for what you want. In fact, the longer you wait, the more insecure you’ll get and tend to postpone your actions. Instead of filling yourself with regrets and waiting for a moment that most probably won’t come, you could try instead making the first steps in a certain direction.

5. Not making your dream a goal – and forgetting about it

I want to do a lot of things. Some of them pass through my mind in most unusual moments. Unfortunately, , I quickly forget about them. But after a while I remember and in order not to forget again, I write them somewhere.
However, this doesn’t work: lists and lists all over again, and no checked marked to indicate that I’ve actually managed to bring any of them to an end. The reason for this is that people don’t always picture their desires as objectives. Instead of adding your desires to a list of “Things I want to accomplish, sometime, in the future”, you could try to visualize them as a clear objective.
