Social Networking Sites Survey

Social sites got highly popular over the last few years. Facebook and Twitter have become the leading networks on the internet with millions of users.According to the survey that took place from June 2009 to June 2010 and that involved 200, 000 Americans we find out that time spent on social websites is increasing. According to the study Americans spend 16 percent to 23 percent on social websites. That’s six hours online on Facebook per month. Second place takes social gaming and email is on the third place.



Speaking of emails, email lost its popularity with computer users and its popularity dropped from 12 percent to 8 percent. Interesting thing is that email gets more popular on mobile devices and it takes 42 percent of online time. In addition, search engines have faced a small drop when it comes to popularity and their popularity dropped from 5.5 percent to 4.4. One data from the survey shows that Americans are spending 36% of their online time communicating with other users, via blogs, social sites or instant messengers.


As you can see, Internet is a huge part of our lives nowadays and it’s not a surprise to see that social sites are most popular form of online pastime. As you can see, people spend six hours monthly on Facebook, but what about you, how much time do you spend on social websites?
